Browsing Projects

The Projects link in the main navigation opens your workspace project list. It shows every project you have access to in a searchable card grid, split into Active and Completed tabs. Click a card to open that project’s dashboard.

Not the admin view. This page lists only projects you can access. Tenant admins who need to manage every project in the workspace — including delete and per-project access rules — should use Admin → Projects instead. See All Projects (Admin).

Toolbar

The page header includes a search field and, for users with create permission, a New project button.

Control What it does
Search projects Filters the current tab by project name and description. Clearing the search restores the full list.
New project Opens the create-project form. Visible only to users with Project Admin or higher. See Create a Project.

Active and Completed tabs

Projects are grouped into two tabs, each showing a live count in the tab label:

  • Active — projects currently in use. This is the default tab.
  • Completed — projects marked as completed. They remain fully intact and can be reopened from project settings.

Search applies within the tab you are viewing. Switching tabs resets pagination to page 1.

What is a Completed project? Marking a project as completed is a soft flag — the project and all its data remain fully intact. Completed projects move to the Completed tab for reference. Remove the completed flag in project settings to move a project back to Active.

Project cards

Each project is shown as a card in a responsive grid (one column on mobile, up to three on wide screens). Cards show:

Element Description
Icon and name The project’s chosen icon and title.
Summary Up to two lines of the project description, if one was set.
Status badge A Completed badge on finished projects.
Created How long ago the project was created (for example, “Created 3d ago”).
Open Click anywhere on the card (or the Open link) to go to that project’s dashboard.

Inline edit

Users with Project Admin or higher see a pencil icon on each card when hovering or focusing the card. Clicking it opens the edit form for that project without leaving the list.

Pagination

When a tab has more than twelve projects, pagination controls appear below the grid. Page changes apply only to the current tab and search filter.

Empty states

What you see when a tab has no matching projects depends on context:

Situation What appears
Search returns no matches No projects found with a prompt to adjust your search terms.
Completed tab is empty No completed projects yet — a quiet message that completed projects will appear here.
Active tab is empty and you can create projects Create your first project with a primary create button, plus an optional Try the sample project card (see below).
Active tab is empty and you cannot create projects No projects yet with a message to ask your admin for access.

Sample project

When your workspace has no projects yet and you have create permission, the Active tab offers a Try the sample project card alongside the create prompt. Clicking it provisions a pre-built project with test cases, test runs, and explorations so you can explore TestOrchestrator without starting from scratch.

After the sample is created you are taken straight to its dashboard. The sample card does not reappear once a sample project exists in the workspace.
